NAUMD Awards Profile: Hillsborough County, Tampa, Sheriff’s Office

From the time new recruits are trained, professionalism in appearance and integrity is instilled. This 2013 Best Dressed Public Safety winner has a public image that is highly regarded.

Then supplied by VF, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Class A uniform begins with all deputies in dark green trousers with a black stripe on the sides. The shirt was a white poly/cotton button-down with chest pockets, epaulets and shoulder patches. Deputies wore silver five-point star badges; those above the rank of corporal wore gold.

Hats were not typically used, but were a plain green straw Stratton type. Green Gore-Tex jackets or black sweaters were are approved for winter wear.

NAUMD later this month will pay tribute to this year’s Image of the Year, Best Dressed Public Safety, and Innovation Award Winners. The May 24th event is part of a series of programs scheduled in Reston, VA, during NAUMD’s annual convention. It’s not too late to register. Learn More
