Designer

JOB SUMMARY

As part of the Design and Creative team, this role continually initiates, proposes and develops new product concepts to meet the needs of the target consumers and align with the DNA of the brand.  The designer collaborates with other Design team members, Product Development, Merchandising and the Sourcing teams to develop products which maximize growth, attain profitability goals and  deliver innovative, high quality, comfort, fit and functionality while maintaining exceptional consumer value and brand loyalty.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proposes design ideas based on seasonal assignments with regard to fabrication, style definition, functional features, fit requirements and design details
  • Researches global markets to identify new trends, fabrics, and techniques
  • Manages seasonal design assortments from concept to presentation – builds upon line plans; color cards, mood boards, CAD sketches, and attractive line sheet presentations
  • Creates CADS, technical sketch details for the Product Development team and fills out BOM colorways across categories as needed
  • Works closely with the Product Development team in facilitating style, fit and silhouette direction for sampling and prototyping
  • Prepares and delivers compelling design presentations (visually and verbally) that sell ideas effectively, and helps the team prepare for other design reviews and customer-facing meetings
  • Actively participates in design events (creative vision and ideation kick-offs, design reviews, brainstorms) and brings a collaborative energy
  • Proactively researches and stays ahead of trends, and informs the team of any opportunities that seem relevant for the brand; continually proposes concepts for prototyping
  • Works closely with the licensing and branding teams for alignment as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED SKILL/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 2 years of design-related experience
  • Solid understanding of garment construction and fabrics
  • High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
  • Elevated sketching and creative presentation layout capabilities
  • Strong organizational, communication and presentation skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Centric PLM systems a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Design, Product Design or Fashion Design preferred
