The upcoming NAUMD 2022 Convention boasts a slate of amazing speakers, an impressive event agenda and an industry-wide exhibit featuring the best known companies in the business. But there’s another element that sometimes gets overlooked, one that is equally important: the entertainment. Receptions and social events are a great way to unwind, of course, but they’re also important vehicles for doing business in a relaxed, informal way. However, these events don’t just happen. They take planning – and sponsorship. The Pulse takes a quick look at this year’s events, and their sponsors, below:
On Sunday evening, May 22, the exhibit hall is officially open for business and pleasure. Grab a bite and a drink while walking the exhibit hall. Network and talk with exhibitors, and meet with members of the NAUMD Board of Directors. It’s a great way for both newcomers and old timers to get acquainted with all things NAUMD. Two members have joined forces to make this event possible.
Motives International is a global family business with a footprint on four continents. Founded in the suiting business, Motives brings together the best of manufacturing’s worlds to create a unique offering; fashion, factories and family. Their range includes men’s and women’s tailored suits and sport coats, PPE and uniforms.
The R&R Group, is no strangers to the uniform industry. In 1972, founders Bob Gates and Ron Pate started a retail uniform store called R&R Uniforms, and over the following 15 years, they designed and implemented the first centralized and automated uniform distribution program, which became and still remains the industry standard for the civilian agencies of the federal government. Active and involved members every since, this dynamic duo received in 2019 the association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Monday evening’s reception and entertainment comes courtesy of Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP). WRAP is the world’s largest factory-based certification program for manufacturers of clothing, footwear and other sewn products. Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, USA, with regional offices in Hong Kong, SAR, and Dhaka, Bangladesh, and full-time staff in Europe, India, Latin America, and Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia), WRAP is an independent, objective, non-profit team of global social compliance experts dedicated to promoting safe, lawful, humane, and ethical manufacturing around the world through certification and education.
Also sponsoring Monday’s reception is Superior Group of Companies (SUG). In each of their businesses, they help other businesses elevate their brands. Each of their businesses has its own identity but the supportive nature of our businesses allows each business to tap into the dynamic resources of the other segments to enhance its mission. For example their largest and oldest business segment, Superior Uniform Group, Inc. (SUG). Superior Uniform Group has three distinct divisions, High Performance Identity (HPI), Fashion Seal Healthcare (FSH) and Creative In Design Resources (CID). SUG is one of the largest, most nimble, most awarded and most admired companies in the uniform business. They create workday apparel that make employees feel confident, professional and comfortable. There is a direct correlation between these attributes and customer satisfaction. Smartly dressed employees exude confidence as they go about their day as the face of their employer. A well-designed uniform program with all of the components of design, durability, easy-care, inventory management, ease of ordering, prompt delivery and total transparency to the supply chain, critically aligns us to our customers’ mission.
The convention comes to a close of Tuesday, May 24 with NAUMD’s Awards Banquet, where winners of 2022’s Image of the Year Awards®, Best Dressed Public Safety Award® Competition, and Innovation Awards are announcement. The banquet’s longtime sponsor Cobmex is joined this year by CORDURA.®
