A bold new chapter is unfolding in the American textile and hosiery industry. On July 1, 2025, operations will officially begin at the New American Hosiery Company, a joint venture bringing together the manufacturing legacy of Wilson Brown Sock Company and the clinical textile innovation of Circufiber Inc. The partnership also includes the acquisition of assets from TH Hosiery Mills—formerly known as Thorlo—consolidating significant industry expertise under one banner.
The new company will operate out of North Carolina, with facilities in Statesville and Rockwell, drawing from a strong regional base steeped in textile history. New American Hosiery aims to lead the market by fusing traditional American craftsmanship with cutting-edge, clinically backed textile technology.
At the heart of the company is a leadership team with deep industry experience and a shared commitment to innovation, quality, and domestic manufacturing. Jim Calhoun, a seasoned executive with past leadership roles at Converse, Nike, and Celliant, will serve as CEO. His background in performance textiles and global brand management signals an ambitious future for the venture.
The company’s CFO and Head of Sales is Callum Brown, a well-known figure in the uniform and hosiery sectors. Brown has led Wilson Brown Sock Company for over two decades and played a central role in its transformation into a recognized name in performance and workwear socks through brands such as Pro Feet, Wilson Brown Workwear, and Brown Dog. Brown is also a board member of the Network Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors (NAUMD), an affiliation that underscores his longstanding commitment to the image apparel and workwear community.
“This partnership represents a convergence of heritage and innovation,” said Brown. “We’re combining decades of proven performance with transformative textile science to create a new kind of hosiery company—one that serves traditional markets while actively improving foot health and comfort.”
That scientific edge comes from Circufiber Inc., the Massachusetts-based technology company whose textiles have been clinically proven to support circulation and foot health. Their patented products are already recognized in the medical and wellness space, and through this joint venture, their technologies will now reach a broader spectrum of end users—from uniformed professionals and athletes to consumers seeking performance-driven everyday wear.
Another integral member of the leadership team is Dave Varsik, who will serve as Chief Product & Innovation Officer. Varsik brings more than 30 years of experience at Thorlo and TH Mills and is regarded as a product design leader within the industry. With a background in mechanical engineering, including work on engines for the Boeing 777 and Airbus A330, Varsik brings a precision mindset to product innovation.
The formation of New American Hosiery represents more than just a merger; it’s a strategic alignment to meet the evolving needs of retailers, uniform distributors, and healthcare providers looking for American-made products with both performance and wellness benefits. It also reflects a renewed investment in U.S.-based manufacturing at a time when nearshoring and domestic supply chains are regaining strategic importance.
By combining Circufiber’s scientific textile breakthroughs with Wilson Brown’s strong relationships in the uniform and workwear markets—and integrating TH Hosiery Mills’ operational capacity—the new company is positioning itself as a formidable presence in the American hosiery industry.
New American Hosiery has emphasized its commitment to existing customers, partners, and distributors while signaling an openness to expand its reach across both traditional and emerging channels. With leadership deeply rooted in the community, extensive industry knowledge, and a clear vision for the future, the company expects to play a key role in reshaping how hosiery products are manufactured, marketed, and worn.
As Brown notes, “This is about more than socks. It’s about building a better product that meets the needs of the modern consumer—whether they’re on a job site, in a hospital, or managing chronic conditions. We’re proud to keep that innovation grounded in North Carolina, where American textile manufacturing still means something.”
More information about the New American Hosiery Company and its upcoming launch is expected in the coming weeks as the leadership team finalizes its product offerings and market strategy. With July 1 just around the corner, all eyes in the uniform and apparel industry will be on Statesville and Rockwell as this new venture takes root.
