William Darah, a prominent Toledo business owner and longtime NAUMD member, passed away on December 9 at Sylvania Ebeid Center. The cause of death was complications from cancer. He was 75 years old.
Bill, as he was known, was a fixture at NAUMD conventions for many years, and active in several of the association’s committees. He and his late cousin Louis became business partners and co-founded Superior Uniform Sales, a full service uniform distributor that tailored to the public safety market.
Superior Uniforms outfitted some of the country’s best known police and fire departments, including the Toledo Police Department, which took top honors in NAUMD’s best dressed public safety competition three times. In June 2022, after 40 years of leadership, Bill sold Superior Uniform Sales to Spirit Services of Columbus, Ohio.
At the center of Bill’s universe were his wife, two daughters, and three grandchildren. Bill is survived by his wife, Amira; daughters Natalie [Mowafak] Jeries and Alyssa [Ben] Taylor; sisters Diana Cooper and Janice [Jeffrey Managhan] Darah; and grandchildren Tofik and William
