As a member of the MaRS Innovate UK cohort, Bodi.Me will have access to specialized support to help grow its awareness and reach in the North American market. Through targeted workshops, advisory support and networking opportunities companies like Bodi.Me can find international partners and customers in Canada and the U.S.
London-based startup Bodi.Me is a sustainable fashion fit company that specializes in made-to-order, made-to-fit clothing technology through its size and fit recommendation platform for fashion e-commerce and uniform companies. Its custom garment process allows companies quickly and cheaply to make small batches of quality clothing and production facilities closer to home. This reduces the cost and environmental impact of raw materials, energy and shipping, and delivers designs that fit better.
Bodi.Me recently garnered headlines at October’s Professional Clothing Industry Association Worldwide (PCIAW) summit, where it won the Best Application of Innovative Technology award for the second consecutive year.
“We are pleased to be recognized for our Size-Me technology,” said Lara Mazzoni, CEO and co-founder of Bodi.Me. “Imagine if, with just a few clicks, you could generate all the measurements to create a perfectly fitted suit or uniform just for you or your employees? Now you can.”
With just a few simple questions customized to each client and their wearers, Size-Me can accurately generate the measurements needed for a fully automated garment production platform, such as AccuMark. Potentially sensitive data points such as gender, age, or weight are not required.
The Size-Me platform is designed for integration into e-commerce and CRM platforms. It specifically considers each garment’s specifications, such as measurement, optimal fit and fabrics, and can work with multiple data sources, including 3D body scans.
“We are confident this program can accelerate the North American growth of UK startups as well as strengthen the manufacturing ecosystem here at home,” said Jason MacFarlane, VP, Venture Services Products at MaRS. “We want to extend the long history of partnership between Canada and the UK’s innovation economies.”
Bodi.Me’s technology was used by Incorporatewear, the official Commonwealth Games uniform supplier, to create 14,000 volunteer uniforms for the 2022 Birmingham Games, the first ever carbon-neutral international games. The company developed a custom algorithm capable of predicting the size needed for over 85,000 separate garments. The size prediction was based only on a few simple questions and produced the uniforms within budget and with no returns due to size.
