The Miami Grand Prix, in its inaugural year both in the United States and in Florida at the Hard Rock Stadium, approached Unitex Direct to consult on and supply them with 10,000 uniforms for both stadium employees and track employees. It turned out to be a winning combination, as the Miami Grand Prix and Unitex Direct earned an Image of the Year Award earlier this year.
A multi-year commitment, the product specification in year one included stadium uniforms in 100% polyester because of the heat and humidity that would be present in May. On the track side, some 100% polyester products were chosen as well as 100% cotton white dress shirts for Race Marshalls.
After evaluating colors and available inventory in knit apparel additional garments were incorporated into the program. On the track side, team members wear a flame retardant orange jumpsuit, a custom made gray flame retardant balaclava, and a white traffic safety helmet. The orange jumpsuit is embroidered with “Miami track” on the backside of the jumpsuit. In the position of Scrutineers, Pit Wall Scrutineers and the Pit Lane crew, members wear white 100% cotton long sleeve dress shirts embroidered with 3 logos.
The decorating for stadium positions was completed by screenprinting a variety of logos based on the wearers position and work requirements. All shirts were screen printed with the Formula 1 Crypto.com logos and the work responsibility of the wearer. The housekeeping staff attire includes tees and knit shirts colored in navy; while transportation and parking personnel are easily distinguished by royal blue and orange shirts.
The entry process for the 2024 Image of the Year Awards as well as NAUMD’s other recognition programs will open late fall. Check the website and keep reading The Pulse for updates, or contact rick.levine@naumd.com to learn more.
