Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office has always prided itself on a very well-kept, professional appearance provided by the dress uniforms they have utilized for some time. But they wanted a more functional uniform with updated customization options, and they didn’t want to sacrifice their sharp uniform look. Enter Galls, who coordinated this best dressed, award-winning look.
Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office houses a Detention and Deputy division, each with a unique uniform set that provides functionality for each role. Sworn Deputies wear a Class A uniform with custom-made spruce green trousers striped with black, and a poly/wool tropical weave shirt colored in silver tan. A 2 1⁄4” waistband allows a duty belt to be worn directly through the loops as many Deputies prefer. These uniforms are also very suitable for the southern US climate, especially during the warm and humid summers.
There’s also a new Class B uniform option. A Fechheimer product, it’s a modern duty uniform that has lasting stretch, durability, a modern fit, and essential functional enhancements. Offering the perfect combination of stretch and durability, FX S.T.A.T. delivers the necessary tenacity required of any public safety uniform.
Both divisions utilize a name tape on the right chest made of the shirt fabric and affixed by Velcro. The left chest has a sewn-on badge emblem, and department shoulder emblems on both sleeves. The goal of these customizations was to move away from the wearing of metal badges and nametags for increased officer safety in various situations, especially the detention environment.
The entry process for the 2024 Best Dressed Public Safety Department Competition, as well as NAUMD’s other recognition programs will open late fall. Check the website and keep reading The Pulse for updates, or contact rick.levine@naumd.com to learn more.
