Chester County Park Rangers work outdoors in extreme weather conditions for long periods of time, therefore comfort and functionality are always top of mind.
This Best Dressed Public Safety® department winner had two main priorities: the look needed to emulate the classic, easily identifiable universal brand of the American park ranger. Witmer achieved this by utilizing a dress and patrol uniform that works together, topped with a flat hat or cap. The switch from an internal to an external ballistic vest not only improved appearance, but provided better comfort to those who were on long patrols in extreme weather.
The department’s uniforms are colored in tan and organic greens. The Class A uniform consists of a button front shirt, cargo pants, and campaign hat, and includes fabrics that are moisture wicking and anti-microbial. Their Class B garments include polo shirt, under or over vest carrier, cargo pants and shorts, and cap. A system jacket has a high-performance shell, and a matching softshell liner that works as a standalone jacket or converts to a vest. The outer-shell is also waterproof and bloodborne pathogen-resistant
