2022 Awards Profile: Kora™ Scanner, BodiData

Aug 15, 2022 | Awards

Innovation Award winner BodiData was created to solve the complex problem of matching ready-to-wear clothing that was designed for a particular fit model’s body shape and size, to the almost limitless number of body shapes and sizes of people needing size-recommendations.

The solution, in part, is the company’s Kora scanner, the only handheld scanner able to take an individual’s actual body measurements while wearing everyday streetwear. Kora Handheld Scanner uses a combination of optical and radar sensors to create an accurate, anonymous 3D representation of the body of the person being measured. Using millimeter wave technology, the Kora Handheld Scanner’s radar sensor safely bounces signals off the water molecules on the person’s skin beneath their clothing. The radar signals are used to create a digital cloud of the body beneath the clothing. This

eliminates the need for a person to change into tight, form fitting clothing or into their undergarments to be measured.

Kora is easy to use and can be operated with minimal training. Using the company’s patented augmented reality, the operator can complete the scan quickly. The process eliminates manual measurement inaccuracies and the need to have any physical contact with the person being measured. Size recommendations are generated in real time.

Kora integrates with BodiData’s Mobile App and can be used to pre-register uniform wearers for sizing events which will help speed up the process and keeps personal information even more private.

It’s time to start thinking about NAUMD’s 2023 awards. Look for entry materials early this fall, and contact rick.levine@naumd.com for any tips and advice on entering.
