The Wilson Brown Sock Company, originally known to many as Pro Feet, was founded in 1979 by Russell Wilson. The focus during that time was on supplying mass merchandise retailers and the US military. Within a few years of the launch, the market expanded to include the team athletic industry. Pro Feet’s catalog of sports socks quickly became the standard for many family-owned businesses across the country.
Russell sold the business to his son and a longtime friend in 2012, and the pair embarked on a new vision and strategy for the Pro Feet brand. The company underwent a rebrand, and in 2018 was renamed the Wilson Brown Sock Company. Going forward, emphasis was placed on growing the athletic market and targeting growth in other industries.
Today, Wilson Brown owns a family of niche-market sock brands, including Pro Feet, Brown Dog Hosiery, WB Originals, and WB Workwear, a performance sock line for postal, military, public safety, and the workforce.
The company has invested heavily in technology, process improvement and in its own knitting operations in North Carolina, all with the intention of training the next generation of sock producers. And while much many have changed at Wilson Brown, one thing remains constant – Whether on the field or on the beat, in a work boot or in a loafer, Wilson Brown makes the socks people love to wear.
