Weinbrenner Shoe Company set to expand amid pandemic

The Weinbrenner Shoe Company in Merrill hasn’t stopped since its founding in 1892.

Not even a global pandemic could keep them down for long.

“A lot of our competitors stopped production, they laid people off. We didn’t do either,” said Jeff Burns, company president.

Just before the pandemic, the company saw a skyrocketing demand for their popular Thorogood brand of shoes.

We’ve actually really pushed the gas pedal on our marketing efforts,” said Bianca Boettcher, marketing manager.

That booming demand allowed them to acquire a massive new facility just behind their original factory. They’ll move some of their workers and machinery there
