NAUMD has joined other trade associations and signed a letter urging countries to join, support, or align with the coalition Operation Prosperity Guardian defending maritime security in the Red Sea and ultimately around the world.
Operation Prosperity Guardian is a multinational security initiative with 23 participating countries to date. It is vital for our industry, and global prosperity, that the world unites behind a zero-tolerance approach to deter attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea, and anywhere in the world.
The Red Sea is vital and moves 12 percent of the world’s trade, approximately $1 trillion in goods critical items like food, energy, clothing, and shoes. Terrorist attacks in the Red Sea imperil the safety and security of crew and cargo, which is now forcing carriers to divert to other routes.
The American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) is spearheading this project. Contact Steve Lamar at the AAFA slamar@aafaglobal.org if your group would like to join the effort and appear as a signatory in the open letter. Deadline for inclusion: February 2nd.
