This Image of the Year Award winner from 2020 was designed by Universal Orlando. Are you ready to ride with Hagrid? When you are, there are over 160 magical creature caregivers to greet you. Donned with the necessary protective gear for the level of creatures for which they are interacting, team members are ready to send you on your adventure. Outfits include long sleeve, corded Henley shirts (some are mock-rolled) to protect from bites and scratches. These are paired with practical twill pants with snap-cinch hems to keep magical creatures like the Cornish pixies from going up their pant leg. A wide leather belt is also supplied, and is suitable for carrying any additional gear may be needed.
Once they have these basics, team members can select their additional protective gear as needed. Choices include a padded vest (1-layer vested shirt replaces long sleeve, corded Henley shirt) to add torso shielding, leather gloves, padded leather arm guards, padded leather knee pads, and padded leather shin guards to protect their extremities from larger and more dangerous magical creatures.
In two weeks, NAUMD will pay tribute to this year’s Image of the Year, Best Dressed Public Safety, and Innovation Award Winners. The May 24th event is part of a series of programs scheduled in Reston, VA, during NAUMD’s annual convention. It’s not too late to register. Learn More
