NAUMD 2010 Best Dressed Awards Announced!

NAUMD 2010-11 Board of Directors Announced
(NEW YORK, NY) March 9, 2010 – The North-American Association of Uniform Manufacturers & Distributors (NAUMD) today announced the election of its Board of Directors and Officers for 2010-11. In voting by the NAUMD Membership, the Executive Committee included: elected to a 2-year term as Chairman, Steve Zalkin, Alamar Uniforms Company, along with Vice Chairman, Steve Robinson, Liberty Uniform Manufacturing Co., Inc., Treasurer Jim Tewmey, VF Imagewear, Inc. and Brian Garry, Cintas as Member at Large. NAUMD Memorandum: End the Violence!
The North-American Association of Uniform Manufacturers & Distributors, whose membership faithfully serves the needs of the Public Safety Community, we are truly concerned by the recent increase in attacks on Police Officers, Fire Fighters and others in the community whose job is to protect us all.
The Lakewood, Washington Police Officers who were ambushed and executed in a senseless and despicable act of violence on November 30, 2009 are yet one more horrific example of this increasing violence against those who protect us.

NAUMD MOVES 2010 CONVENTION TO RIO LAS VEGAS - MARCH 5-9 2010!
NAUMD Officials announced that based on 2009 NAUMD attendee comments, the Association was moving it’s 2010 Convention & Exposition from Bally’s Las Vegas to the 5 Star Award Winning totally refurbished Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and that the new dates: Friday, March 5 – Tuesday March 9th! Further, convention sleeping room rates would be reduced from $189++ to $179++ per night! This will also allow us to hold the Best Dressed Public Safety Awards Breakfast & the IOY Dinner on Saturday March 6 rather than on a weeknight!

Nanowires allow 'power dressing'
Power dressing" may soon have a very different and literal meaning. Scientists in the US have developed novel brush-like fibres that generate electrical energy from movement. Weaving them into a material could allow designers to create "smart" clothes which harness body movement to power portable electronic gadgets.
